One of the biggest complaints I've read about pea protein is that some brands are bitter. This product does not seem at all bitter to me. The other knock on pea protein is that it doesn't contain much of the essential amino acids (EEA) methionine & cysteine. I still eat meat so I'll get these amino acids elsewhere in my diet, but vegans can get these EAA from foods like lentils or brown rice powder.I use it to make smoothies with whey protein isolate, kefir, a little ground flaxseed (to prevent constipation), and frozen fruit. I'm now making smoothies with the same ingredients except I've switched from whey to pea protein. I'm not sure if pea protein will make some people constipated like whey protein does, but the extra fiber in the flaxseed isn't bad for most people. Note that if you have IBS, you probably want to avoid flaxseed.While the whey protein was pretty much flavorless, the pea protein adds an earthy, raw pea flavor that I like. The pea protein does alter the texture of the smoothie (relative to the whey protein) by making it a little thicker, but that's not a problem for me. The protein mixes well in both my Ninja smoothie blender cup and in my Vitamix, but I believe it would mix well in any blender.I initially started using pea protein because whey has gotten so expensive in the last few years, but I think I'll keep using the pea protein even if I find a cheaper source of whey protein.Good product. I will buy again.
