Description

The name 'Ironweed' accurately fits this plant species, as its thick steam stands tall, reaching up to 6 feet. The clustered deep purple flowers bloom July through September. They provide nectar for pollinators and a beautiful splash of color to the landscape. It is a prominent native of the North-Central US. Ironweed should be planted in the Fall. Spotted Joe Pye Weed Attracts Birds, Butterflies, and Hummindbirds Native to: Much of the Central United States Full Sun Rich moist soil Moderate to moist soils Sow in Sept.-Dec. Zones: 4-8 Perennial Sow: Fall through Mid Winter A note about seed balls: Seed balls protect the seeds from erosion, foraging, and many other factors. This protective property often results in a slower germination cycle. Wildflowers are also highly variable in their germination rates. Please be patient with your seed balls. If you placed them in a suitable location, soil, and climate, when the seeds are ready, they will grow! OUR PROMISE We guarantee your satisfaction and will provide a full refund or replace your seed balls if your are not satisfied. Just contact us with your questions and we will work out a solution! We want your seed balls to grow!

I planted these bombs last fall with high hopes in two very different locations: NYC suburbs and Cape Cod, MA. Nothing! (Bombed?).Got some ironweed already, planted a few months ago. Still have many more seed balls which I will plant in the fall. All but two seed balls were crashed. Basically a bag full of coarsely ground seed ball. Definitely worth the money. No seed in these balls...just clay....what a wasteGreat
